Istanbul looks set to usher the first Edition hotel into this world in December. The joint venture between Marriott and Ian Schrager is gathering pace, with “numerous Edition projects” under signed management agreements.
Edition itself has yet to release any official details on the Istanbul property, but the owner of the building Palmali Holding has been quoted in the Turkish press as saying that the 80-room hotel will open on December 15, 2009, after renovations of both the interior and exterior of the building have been completed.
Palmali is touting the hotel as a “seven-star”, all-suite property, and says that it is also working on a further Edition hotel in Baku. Once again this has not been confirmed by Edition, but what we do know is Marriott aims for the brand to be “the first truly global branded boutique / lifestyle hotel on a large scale, and the next generation to set the standard for years to come”.
