Intercontinental Hotels Group has opened a new Crowne Plaza hotel in Tampa, Florida.
The Crowne Plaza Tampa Westshore, located in the Westshore business district and overlooking Tampa Bay, has had a complete interior and exterior multi-million dollar transformation, having previously been branded as a Ramada Inn and Clarion Hotel.
Intercontinental Hotels also manages Crowne Plaza Tampa East, located in the financial district to the east of the city centre.
Gina LaBarre, vice president of brand management for Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts in the Americas, said: “We’re pleased to bring our second Crowne Plaza to the Tampa area, especially in such a convenient location for business travelers… that will benefit from the meetings-savvy products and services.”
The hotel has seven meeting rooms with more than 9,000 square feet of flexible meeting space accommodating up to 700 people, plus a 24-hour business centre.
The 11-story property has 222 guest rooms featuring Crowne Plaza’s Sleep Advantage product, which includes signature bedding, guaranteed wake-up calls, designated quiet zones, night lights, drape clips, sleep CDs, sleep tips and amenities such as eye masks, ear plugs and lavender spray.
Pangaea is the full service restaurant and bar serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel also has an outdoor pool and a fitness centre.
Guests can use the hotel’s complimentary airport shuttle for transfer to Tampa International Airport two miles away.
Element, the new long-stay Starwood brand, is set to open in Tampa in September this year (see online news April 22, 2008). The Tampa Bay area has the second largest population in Florida, after Miami.
