The Bentley joins the Waldorf Astoria Collection

16 Mar 2009 by Sara Turner

The five-star Bentley Hotel in London has become the first property in the UK to join Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria Collection.

Simon Vincent, area president Europe for Hilton, said: “The Bentley London is synonymous with style and opulence, offering its guests a truly world-class hospitality experience. This, now coupled with The Waldorf Astoria Collection brand, provides a powerful combination.”

The interior of the 64-room Bentley hotel has remained unchanged since the property was debranded as a Kempinski (see online news March 12, 2008). Behind the traditional white stucco façade in Kensington the hotel features antique gilt furniture, polished marble floors, silk wall-coverings and crystal chandeliers. The property also has an authentic Turkish hamam in the Kalon Spa.

Ross Klein, global head, luxury and lifestyle brands at Hilton, and the man behind the recently launched Denizen Hotels (see online news March 10) said: "I am honoured to be a part of the team launching the first Waldorf Astoria Collection hotel in the United Kingdom – London is one of the world's most significant business and cultural centres and is an ideal location for the brand's footprint. The Bentley London, The Waldorf Astoria Collection, embodies the brand’s essence and offers a unique and authentic luxury experience with destination inspired signature elements.”

The portfolio of luxury hotels, which all participate in the Hilton HHonors loyalty scheme, also includes the Rome Cavelieri (see online news October 3, 2008) and the Trianon Palace Versailles.

Also set to join the collection this year are Dakota Mountain Lodge in Utah, The Boca Resort & Club in Florida, El San Juan Hotel & Casino in Puerto Rico and the The Roosevelt in New Orleans. The Palace Jerusalem in Israel will also join the collection when it opens in 2010.
