JW Marriott debuts in Medan

3 Mar 2009

Medan, Indonesia’s third largest city, is the location for Marriott International’s JW Marriott Hotel Medan.

The hotel has implemented Marriott's smoke-free policy, which forbids smoking inside the property's buildings including in guestrooms, functions spaces and restaurants. Designated areas outside are allocated for smokers.

Set in the central business district, the hotel features 287 guestrooms, including four Junior Suites, one Ambassador Suite and one Presidential Suite.

Amenities include the Marriott bedding package, 37-inch or 42-inch flat-panel TVs and the connectivity to plug and play iPods and other personal devices.

Leisure facilities include a 24-hour fitness centre, outdoor infinity pool and Quan Spa.

Three restaurants cater to dining needs: Prime Steak House and Bar, a Chicago-style outlet; Jade Chinese Restaurant for Cantonese and Shanghainese cuisine; and Marriott Café for all-day servings of an international spread. For some chilling out, the Prime Lounge and the Lounge are ideal. Meetings are catered to in the Grand Ballroom for 160 seated and in six function rooms, while an exhibition space is onsite as well.

Medan, besides being the capital of the province of North Sumatra, is a major entry point for flights and boats from Malaysia.

JW Marriott Medan joins Marriott's other properties in Indonesia: the JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta, Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Ritz-Carlton Jakarta Pacific Place, The Mayflower - Marriott Executive Apartments Jakarta, and JW Marriott Hotel Surabaya.
