BA launches upgrades and bonus miles promotion

18 Feb 2009 by Mark Caswell

British Airways passengers flying before March 31 can take advantage of one-way upgrades and bonus miles.

The carrier is offering outbound or return-leg upgrades to first class for those booking full fare Club World tickets on BA mainline flights. Flights on franchisees, code share partners or Oneworld alliance members are excluded from the promotion, with the exception of Qantas routes to Bangkok, Singapore and Sydney.

Meanwhile short-haul customers will receive one-way upgrades to Club Europe for full fare Euro Traveller tickets. Again this refers to mainline BA flights only, with the exception of Iberia-operated flights from Heathrow to Madrid and Barcelona (when booked under a BA flight number). Routes to Belfast, Cork, Moscow and St Petersburg are excluded from the offer.

The added bonus is that passengers will receive tier points equivalent to the cabin upgrade. Tickets must be booked via a travel agent or the BA reservations line on +44 (0)844 493 0787, and the upgrade must be requested at the time of booking.

BA is also currently offering bonus Executive Club miles for flights taken before March 31. For example two sectors in Club World (fare codes J, C and D) qualify for 20,000 bonus miles, while four return flights on domestic routes (fare codes J, C and Y) will earn members 16,000 bonus miles.
