Starwood’s W Hotels brand is to open its first Paris property in 2011. The hotel will be located in the Opera area of the city, close to Place Vendome.
The W Paris-Opera will be housed in an 1870s Haussman era building, and will feature 90 rooms, a “world-class contemporary restaurant and destination bar”, and a fitness facility with spa treatment rooms.
Roeland Vos, president of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe Africa and Middle East said that Paris “has been on the hit list for W Hotels for many years”, and added that he was delighted a building had been found that was “so quintessentially Parisian”.
The W Hotels brand debuted in Europe last year with the opening of the W Istanbul (see online news April 3, 2008), and has also announced London and Manchester properties to open in 2010 (see online news September 3, 2008). Starwood currently has six hotels in Paris under its Sheraton, Le Méridien, Westin and The Luxury Collection brands.
