Accor offers million-room super-sale

13 Feb 2009

Hotel giant Accor is to offer one million discounted hotel rooms across Asia Pacific during a special online promotion from February 24 until midnight February 26.

With savings of up to 75 percent across 300 hotels in 13 countries, the sale is believed to be one of the largest undertaken by any hospitality provider. The deals will be valid for stays from April 1 until July 31 this year.

Accor brands participating in the sale are Pullman, MGallery, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure, All Seasons and Ibis.

One feature of the deal is that Accor have set the rates by country and currency rather than by brands or category of property, so that a Pullman hotel in Thailand will be available at 1,330 Thai baht (US$38) per night as will an All Seasons property.

Accor Asia senior vice-president sales and marketing Ray Stone said that the promotion not only helped the consumer in a tougher economic situation but was also a way of supporting destinations that were struggling with a slowdown in tourism.

“People are looking for value in this difficult economic climate and these special rates will allow couples and families to get away for a quality holiday without breaking the bank.

“It will be a welcome boost to local tourism and all the businesses that rely on the industry for income and jobs,” he said.

Speaking in Singapore, Graham Wilson, vice-president marketing Asia-Pacific, said he was confident that the promotion would be a major hit across the company’s brands.

“Get in fast and buy big,” he said.
