Bmi passengers can now have boarding passes sent to their mobile phones for all UK domestic flights departing Heathrow.
The service follows successful trials during 2008 (see online news June 1, 2008), and means that paperless boarding is now available on flights out of Heathrow to Aberdeen, Belfast City, Dublin, Durham Tees Valley, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Jersey, Leeds Bradford and Manchester. The service is also available on flights departing Belfast, Edinburgh and Manchester for Heathrow.
Customers can request boarding passes to be sent to their mobiles during the online check-in process, up to 24 hours in advance of the flight.
Several airlines have recently launched mobile boarding pass initiatives, including Lufthansa which now offers its customers this service on flights out of Heathrow and regional UK airports.
Bmi this week also announced the introduction of complimentary chauffeur drive services for business class passengers travelling on selected routes to Saudi Arabia and Russia (see online news February 9).
