Gulf Air’s small fleet of leased B777-300ERs
are expected to debut on the carrier’s flagship Bahrain-London route early in
March.
According to the carrier’s website, Gulf Air will operate the first of its new planes on March 2 using flight GF7 which departs Bahrain at 0150 and arrives into Heathrow at 0635. The B777-300ER is set to return to Bahrain as GF2 which departs at 0930 to arrive back in the Gulf at 1910.
As additional B777-300ERs enter the fleet they will take over Gulf Air’s second daily London service.
Starting May 1 passengers can expect to find the B777-300ER rostered for GF5 from Bahrain at 1555 which arrives Heathrow at 2100. It will return on overnight flight GF8 at 2230 landing back in Bahrain at 0705.
It’s understood that these B777-300ERs are being leased from Jet Airways (see online news January 13). They will be fitted with the same Jet Airways seating which features “suites” in first class and fully flat beds in business class.
The B777s are likely to appear on other routes in due course but Gulf Air is unable to provide more details at the present time.
