Wi-Fi all you want at Shangri-La

5 Feb 2009

Luxury chain Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has announced it is offering free and unlimited Wi-Fi in all 60 properties worldwide, including Traders hotels.

The new service will certainly be welcomed by business travellers, who have argued for some time now, that free internet should be a standard amenity as is cable TV, a fitness centre or a swimming pool.

Shangri-La customers can now expect to get connected for free, not only in their guestrooms but the public areas, restaurants, lounges and function spaces as well.

Hotels have been offering complimentary Wi-Fi for several years already, but this is the first time a five-star company is doing so on such a comprehensive scale.

Besides demand, the drive to attract sluggish business in a gloomy financial environment is likewise responsible for the move.

Other hotel chains have also been proactive in stimulating occupancies. See what Holiday Inn and the soon-to-open Singapore Ibis have been up to.
