27 Jan 2009 by Mark Caswell

United Airlines has launched an American Express loyalty credit card for UK members of its Mileage Plus FFP scheme.

The United Mileage Plus American Express Credit Card from MBNA offers one mile for every pound spent on the card, but those applying for the card before April 30 will earn two points per pound spent for the first six months.

The card also offer 0% interest on card purchases for the first three months, and 0% interest on balance transfers for the first twelve months (a 3% handling fee applies).

As a comparison American Airlines’ Citi AAdvantage Visa Gold Card earns one point per pound spent, with an introductory bonus of 5,000 points for new applications. Prior to the American Express credit card, United had offered a Visa loyalty card to UK Mileage Plus members.
