MJETS adds speed to fleet

13 Jan 2009

MJets, the private aviation arm of hospitality and leisure group Minor International, is expanding its fleet of aircraft with the addition of the world’s fastest civilian jet.

The Bangkok-based company will add a Cessna Citation X to its portfolio next month aiming to improve its business and leisure services to popular destinations in Thailand and throughout Asia including Hong Kong, Macau, China, Singapore, Cambodia, Indonesia, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

The award-winning Citation X can carry eight to ten passengers at distances of up to 5,900km at speeds of over 900kmh.

Nishita Shah, an MJet director, said: “At Mach 0.92, the Citation X is the world’s fastest non-military jet and one reason it was selected is its unique ability to fly eight passengers between Bangkok and Dubai in less than six hours, making executives on this and other shorter business trips much more productive and time-efficient than had they used airline travel.”

During the closure of Bangkok Airport in December, the company stepped in to fly large numbers of business, diplomatic and tourist passengers out of the country when cheduled airlines were grounded.

MJets’ pilots and mechanics are trained annually by Flight Safety in the USA and certified by the Thai Department of Civil Aviation.
