Athens airport closed

10 Dec 2008 by Mark Caswell

Athens International airport is currently closed to all flights, as a one-day strike grips the Greek capital.

The strike comes after three days of rioting in Athens, following the shooting of a teenager in the capital on Saturday. The city’s bus, metro and suburban rail systems have also been disrupted by the strike.

A quick look at the website for Athen airport shows all arrivals cancelled, although there is no official statement from the airport authorities on the website.
