Affluent business travellers in Hongkong on a medium-term and a long-term stay are increasingly opting for the convenience and flexible terms of a serviced apartment, according to Signature Homes, the luxury leasing residential of Sun Hung Kai Properties.
“Normally, our clients are guests who need to stay in Hongkong for a considerable period of time, particularly long-stay business travellers with interests in the Pearl River Delta region. These business travellers and visitors are busy people and will not have time for daily errands and household chores. But they are also very discerning and are looking for a place with a homey touch,” said Belinda Kuan, assistant general manager of Signature Homes, whose portfolio includes two of Hongkong luxury serviced residences – Four Seasons Place and The HarbourView Place.
The HarbourView Place, which opened in June this year at up-and-coming West Kowloon commercial district, has recently unveiled the first of its two presidential suites. Called the “Premier Suite”, 3,270sqft residential suite on the 70th floor is now open for viewing. The 3-bedroom apartment has top-of-the-line furnishing and is equipped with all the conveniences of a modern home.
With the unveiling of its Presidential Suite at The HarbourView Place, Signature Homes is showing confidence in the market despite the uncertain economic situation.
“We are moderately optimistic about the serviced suite hotel market,” Kuan said, explaining that the territory is an established international commercial centre where numerous business travellers come to visit.
She added: “Business continues even in uncertain economic situations. Unlike the demand for residential buildings or hotels, we are serving a market in which guests require professional care for medium-term or long-term stay. As such, there is an ongoing demand from multinational companies who are seeking accommodation for their staff, and from other expatriates who are looking for a place that they can call ‘a home away from home’.”
