The Facebook of air travel is here – Air France and KLM have jointly launched www.bluenity.com, the first online social network targeting frequent flyers all around the world.
With the slogan “same place, same time”, bluenity.com can help business travellers keep in touch and perhaps, even meet, while they are on the move – by sharing their flight schedules with one another.
Users will receive updates from other travellers about their flight arrangements and decide to meet and/or travel together. For example, travellers can share a taxi, or have a chat in a lounge if they find that their schedules are compatible.
In addition to this, the site hopes that to amass a database tips and opinions of hotels, restaurants and shopping places shared by users.
Both airline companies have expressed hope that it will become an interactive platform for its combined 75 million annual customers to enrich their travel experiences.
Bluenity.com is available in three languages – French, English and Dutch - and is free of charge.
