Shanghai’s Pudong district will gain a five-star business hotel and a boutique “city retreat” property in time for the 2010 Expo. Both hotels are being developed by the Zendai Group.
The hotels will form part of the Himalayas Centre (located opposite Shanghai’s New International Expo Centre), which will also contain several museums, a shopping mall and a theatre. The 300-room Zendai Art Hotel will occupy the first 14 floors of the development’s tower, with the smaller 78-room Zendai Hotel Yin located on the top four floors.
Zendai Art Hotel will feature complimentary wired and wifi internet access throughout, a 864-sqm, cone-shaped ballroom, a 300-sqm roof garden, several restaurants, and leisure facilities including an indoor swimming pool, gym, spinning room, and “rejuvenation pods” where guests can enjoy sensory treatments such as oxygen therapy, smell therapy, image treatment and music therapy. Zendai Hotel Yin will have suites starting from 60 sqm, along with butler service, a spa, library, and a traditional Chinese Tea House.
Pudong is Shanghai’s main financial hub, with both the Shanghai Stock Exchange and Shanghai World Financial Centre located in the district.
