23 Oct 2008 by Mark Caswell

Emirates has opened an executive lounge at Zurich airport, with facilities including free internet access, showers and a separate dining area.

The 741-sqm lounge is located by gate E53, and has leather seating for 99 guests, as well as a business centre and dining area with on-site chefs offering hot and cold dishes.

Other facilities include a 52-inch flatscreen TV, a massage chair, men’s and women’s showers with Timeless Spa accessories, coffee machines and full bar service, and free wired and wifi internet access. The lounge enjoys views of the Alps, while inside there is ambient lighting, a water feature and gold-plated Rolex wall clocks.

It’s Emirates’ 21st lounge worldwide, with other recent openings including the facility at Brisbane International airport (see online news April 5). The Emirates Lounge is available to its first and business class passengers, and Gold members of the carrier’s Skywards loyalty scheme.

Emirates currently flies twice-daily from Zurich to Dubai, with flights departing the Swiss city at 1535 and 2215, arriving into Dubai at 2355 and 0625 (the next day) respectively.
