US Airways is to launch daily flights during the summer months from Birmingham to Philadelphia, starting next May.
The carrier already plies routes between its Philadelphia hub and London (Heathrow and Gatwick), Manchester, Dublin and Shannon, as well as flights from Charlotte to London Gatwick.
Birmingham will join the fold on May 12, with flights running until the end of September. Currently the only other carrier flying across the atlantic from Birmingham is Continental, which serves New York Newark daily.
US Airways will operate a Boeing 757 aircraft on the new route, with 12 Envoy (business class) and 164 economy class seats. Tickets will be available for purchase from October 25, with the the US-bound leg leaving Birmingham at 0845, arriving into Philadelphia at 1150. The return leg will depart at 1805, landing back into Birmingham at 0625 the next day.
