Internet will be available to passengers on the Qantas Airbus A380 in the second half of 2009, although with restrictions.
These will include sites that contain violence, profanity, nudity and other contents deemed by the airline to be “offensive” to customers.
Initially, Qantas was to provide the full internet service earlier this month. But after the incident where American Airlines was reprimanded by the US Association of Professional Flight Attendants for giving passengers access to pornographic websites, it decided to instead offer a restricted selection of “cached internet content” due to “logistical and regulatory issues”.
