Harbour Grand Hongkong to light up non-CBD area

3 Oct 2008

A luxury hotel opening in a mainly residential area of Hongkong Island, around spring next year, will be offering business travellers a new choice away from the prime Central district.

Located in North Point, Harbour Grand Hongkong, flagship of Harbour Plaza Hotels & Resorts, is part of the new batch of developments, enhancing the city’s skyline especially towards east of the CBD. It features 41 floors and 828 guestrooms (all with unobstructed views of Victoria Harbour) equipped with LCD TVs and wired and Wi-Fi internet access; a grand ballroom with a 6.7-metre ceiling taking up to 720 cocktail style and eight meeting rooms; and five restaurants and bars, including the scenic Sky Lounge on the top floor. Leisure facilities consist of an outdoor heated swimming pool and fitness centre and Jacuzzi.

Thanks to Hongkong’s excellent transport infrastructure, the hotel is minutes away from commercial hubs such as the nearest, Taikoo Place in Quarry Bay where entities like the LVMH Group, American Express and Swire Travel among others have their offices, and the upcoming One Island East tower. The Hongkong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wanchai and Central are also accessible in good time, provided it is not the height of peak hours.

The hotel will be the latest addition to its mother company Hutchison Whampoa's hotel group which manages seven properties in Hongkong, one property in Chongqing, China and a resort in the Bahamas.
