Train operator National Express East Coast (NXEC) is to launch a new reward programme, offering frequent travellers benefits such as first class lounge access and complimentary travel vouchers.
The as-yet unnamed
scheme will offer members rewards when they spend a minimum of £1,800 on NXEC
journeys in any three-month period. Passengers buying tickets at nationalexpresseastcoast.com
will automatically have their purchases registered with the scheme, while
others will need to submit their used train tickets. The
scheme will also be open to First Class season ticket holders.
Qualifying
passengers will receive a membership card, entitling them to rewards including:
Unlimited first class lounge access for the member and a companion
First Class travel vouchers, including two return journeys for two people and a further two return journeys for a single passenger
Discounts on advance purchase tickets
Seasonal special offers on food and drink
A complimentary half bottle of wine when dining in the restaurant
Special discounts arranged with selected partners
The new scheme replaces GNERtime, the loyalty programme run by GNER (the previous operator of the east coast train route). The exact date of the launch has yet to be announced, although NXEC says it will commence in “late 2008”.
The new benefits are in addition to free wifi internet access for all passengers onboard NXEC trains, along with complimentary wifi access at York mainline station (see online news June 14).
