Rezidor is to spend €45m revamping the exterior and interior of its Radisson SAS Hamburg property, housed within the city’s tallest building.
Renovations begin on October 1, and are due to be completed by August 2009. The hotel will remain open during the works, except for a short period between January and March next year.
The 120-metre tall hotel has direct access to the Hamburg Congress Centre, and its exterior is to be refaced with 12,000 light-coloured granite slabs, and colourless window panes.
Inside, the hotel’s 556 rooms will be revamped by designer Christian Lundwall, and split across three new furnishing styles: "Natural" (light wood and soft cream colours), "Urban" ('a clear, no-frills style of modern mega cities'), and "New York Mansion" ('exuding the elegant atmosphere of an upper class lounge').
The hotel’s lobby will also receive a facelift, and the property will gain a new Filini restaurant (the brand’s signature eatery). The conference level will be renovated and expanded, and the hotel’s indoor pool is to be replaced with a spa and wellness area, including a sauna, steam bath and treatment rooms.
