Etihad launches Moscow route

17 Aug 2008 by Mark Caswell

Etihad Airways will commence flights from its Abu Dhabi base to Moscow this December. The new five-times weekly route starts on December 1 (the day before the carrier begins flights to Almaty in Kazakhstan – see online news July 23).

Flights will depart Abu Dhabi at 0940 on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, arriving into the Russian capital at 1405 the same day. This will allow passengers travelling from the UK to connect in Abu Dhabi and travel on to Moscow, as the carrier’s daily flight EY018 from London arrives into Abu Dhabi at 0725.

The return leg leaves Moscow’s Domodedovo airport at 1455, arriving back into Abu Dhabi at 2105. The first Etihad flight out of Abu Dhabi to London is EY011 at 0245.

The route will be served by A319 aircraft configured for 84 in economy and 20 in business, except on Thursday when a A320 will ply the route, with 120 in economy and 20 in business.

Etihad recently launched flights to the Belarusian capital of Minsk (see online news June 17), and opened a new business class at Abu Dhabi International airport in May (see online news May 21).
