Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) is to open new Holiday Inn Express and Crowne Plaza properties in Istanbul, as the booming city continues to attract major hotel investment.
Due to open in 2010, both properties will form part of the ORA Istanbul Urban Entertainment Centre, an entertainment, retail and exhibition complex located between the city centre and the airport.
The 146-room Holiday Inn Express will be the first by the budget brand in Turkey, while the 281-room Crowne Plaza will join seven other IHG-branded properties either open or under development in the country’s capital.
The hotels will be managed by IHG, under ownership by Turkish real estate investment company ORA Istanbul Real Estate Investment and Development Co.
Istanbul is currently experiencing a boom in hotel developments, with brands such as Starwood (see online news April 3), Four Seasons (see online news April 11), and Hyatt (see online April 17) all either opening or announcing new projects.
