Hyatt set for two new Seattle properties

23 May 2008 by BusinessTraveller

Seattle will welcome two new Hyatt brands over the next year or so, with the Hyatt at Olive 8 and Hyatt Place Seattle joining the existing Grand Hyatt Seattle.

Hyatt Olive 8, so called because it is located on the corner of Olive Way and Eighth Avenue, is situated in downtown Seattle, a couple of blocks from the Grand Hyatt Seattle. Although the hotel will not include Regency in the name, it will be closest in feel to this Hyatt brand than its Park Hyatt and Grand Hyatt counterparts.

The hotel will take up the first 17 floors of the new-build property, with the 18th-39th floors being one and two-bedroom residential apartments. Hyatt at Olive 8 will feature 346 guestrooms, as well as nearly 1,400 sqm of spa and health club facilities, including a swimming pool, and over 900 sqm of meeting space.

Hyatt has also secured permission to illuminate the hotel in blue light at night time, through the use of floodlights shining upwards from the base of the property on to blue strips pertruding from the building, so it is likely to become something of an attraction when it opens in early 2009.

Meanwhile the Hyatt Place Seattle is being built on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Denny Way, close to the city’s famous Space Needle. The property will include 160 guestrooms across nine floors, as well as 56 private condiminiums.

Hyatt Place guests can expect free wifi access and flatscreen TVs in the rooms, as well as a fitness centre and signature Gallery welcome area. The hotel is part of a redevelopment project in the area, and is due to open in late 2009.
