El Al launches UK online check-in

18 May 2008 by Mark Caswell

El Al has launched an online check-in service for passengers travelling from London Heathrow, as part of an upgrade of its website.

Heathrow airport is the first airport outside Israel to offer El Al passengers the service, which will enable them to check-in online at elal.co.uk between three and 24 hours prior to departure, as well as pre-selecting their seats and printing boarding passes. Passengers can then proceed straight to bag drop-off and departure gate security on arrival at the airport.

The airline’s online booking system has also been changed. Passengers were previously only able to see the prices for flights on their selected dates, but the site now allows passengers to see prices for preceding and following days on the same screen, making it quicker to find availability and the best fares.

For passengers travelling from Israel, the even more convenient “check in at home” service went on trial earlier this year (see online news January 19). El Al, the national airline of Israel, will be celebrating its 60th anniversary in September.

Visit elal.co.uk for more information.
