Swissotel adds Izmir property

8 May 2008 by Mark Caswell

Swissotel has opened the doors of its latest Turkish property, the Swissotel Grand Efes, Izmir.

Located in the heart of the city, the hotel is within walking distance of the major business and shopping districts, and around 15km from Adnan Menderes airport.

The 402 rooms all offer views of the Aegean Sea, landscaped gardens or the city, and feature state-of-the-art technology.

The hotel has three restaurants serving traditional Turkish and modern cuisine, overseen by renowned chef Michael Schauss.

The Amrita Spa and Wellness centre features a steam bath, ice cave, spa bath, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, traditional Turkish bath, outdoor tennis court and extensive fitness areas.

Within the hotel, the Grand Efes Convention Centre has a mix of flexible meeting rooms, boardrooms and ballrooms, which can accommodate approximately 3,000 guests in total, with capacities ranging from 10 to 1,270 guests. The centre also houses an exhibition area of nearly 1,500 sqm.

The five-star Grand Efes follows the recent opening of three Swissotels in the Turkish cities of Istanbul, Ankara and Gocek, as well as the Swissotel Grand Shanghai (see online news April 12).
