Doubletree to debut in Scotland

6 May 2008 by Mark Caswell

The Doubletree by Hilton brand is set to continue its UK expansion, with the announcement of its first Scottish hotel in Dunblane.

Doubletree’s management agreement with owner The Ability Group will see the historic Dunblane Hydro Hotel in Perthshire receive a multimillion-pound facelift, before officially joining the brand in 2010.

The Victorian hotel, built in 1878, is set within ten acres of gardens and is around 45 minutes from both Edinburgh and Glasgow. It provides 206 rooms, as well as event space and leisure facilities.

Dave Horton, senior vice-president brand management for Doubletree by Hilton, said: “Doubletree by Hilton looks forward to expanding its unique worldwide spirit of hospitality in Scotland, with impeccable service with a sense of contemporary style and individuality.”

This announcement follows the opening in April of the first Doubletree by Hilton hotel outside the US, in Cambridge (see online news February 1). The brand has a collection of more than 45,000 rooms in nearly 200 locations throughout the US.
