907 million The amount in euros of Accor’s operating profit before tax in 2007, a 25 per cent increase on 2006. The hotel group says it has 93,000 rooms in the pipeline, with an expansion plan of 200,000 new rooms between 2006 and 2010.

3,667,210 The number of passengers carried to or from the UK and Ireland by Lufthansa during 2007. The figure is up 1.6 per cent on 2006, with Ireland alone benefitting from a 15 per cent increase.

100,000 The number of passengers using the free wifi service onboard National Express East Coast Railways in January. The operator says this figure is triple the number of users previously logging on under the paid-for scheme with GNER (the service cost £4.95 per hour in standard class and was free in first class).

51,000 The number of passengers carried by Iberia between Madrid and Bucharest during the first year of the new route. The carrier says it has achieved an average cabin occupancy of 74.3 per cent, and will add a seventh weekly flight on the route at the end of March.

241 The number of properties opened by the Hilton Hotels Corporation in 2007. The new hotels added 31,521 rooms to the group’s portfolio, with 11 new properties opening in Europe last year.

72 The number of rooms at the forthcoming Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Boston Downtown. Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts has spent £1m refurbishing the five-storey building, which is due to open this summer.

64 The percentage load factor for Silverjet flights during February 2008. The carrier say the figure is up 10 percent on January, with 8,829 seats sold during the month.

Five Budget airline Iceland Express celebrated its fifth anniversary last week. The carrier now serves 14 destinations including London, Basel, Berlin, Frankfurt, Paris, Stockholm, Barcelona and Warsaw.
