Taj Club guests get royal treatment

At the Taj Mahal Hotel New Delhi, impeccable service is achieved in many, often discrete ways, including delivering newspapers that would stand up to the smudge test.

This perk is exclusive to residents of Taj Club floors whose butlers dutifully fire up their irons at 4.30am to smooth out any creases and settle the ink on the broadsheets. According to Taresh Kapahi, operations manager – butler service, two persons are able to accomplish the task in about an hour and a half, in time for the early birds. And to show that guests are treated royally, the dailies are placed on stand-up trays by each of the 360 rooms.

Who said the Queen had to have all the fun?
