Easyhotel opens in Zurich

1 Dec 2007 by Mark Caswell

The latest Easygroup budget property has opened in Zurich, Switzerland.

This is the sixth Easyhotel to open in Europe, and follows the launch of the Easyhotel Budapest in October. It is also the group’s second Swiss property, joining the Easyhotel Basel.

Located on Zwinglistrasse in the city centre, the Easyhotel has 33 double rooms, all with windows, shower and toilet, from CHF66 (£28). “Frills” are available at an additional charge, including fresh towels (CHF3.50), use of the flatscreen TV (CHF11 for 24 hours) or housekeeping services (CHF18 per time).

The hotel is non-smoking throughout, has rooms with disabled facilities and wifi internet access is available in room for CHF5 per hour (as well as access at a terminal in the hotel lobby).

Lawrence Alexander, CEO of Easyhotel, says: “Easyhotel offers a consistent, clean and safe environment for business travellers and holidaymakers alike. I fully expect that our hotel will be very popular in the winter as business people mix working in Zurich with a skiing trip bolted on.”

Easygroup is planning to open 60 hotels across Europe by 2010, including a property at Heathrow next year (see online news, October 19). For a review of the Easyhotel London Victoria click here.
