Swiss opens premium lounges at Geneva

21 Nov 2007 by Mark Caswell

Swiss has opened two new executive lounges at Geneva Airport – one for first class passengers and the other for Miles and More Senator members.

The lounges add to the existing business class lounge opened earlier this year, meaning the carrier now offers a total of 845sqm of lounge space at Geneva, accommodating up to 200 passengers at any one time.

The lounges incorporate what the airline refers to as “Swissness” in their design, which effectively means the use of Swiss materials in the construction – 10 tonnes of limestone from the Jura Mountains have been used in the walls.

Facilities include computer terminals with complimentary wired and wireless internet access and complimentary food, with different offerings in each lounge. There are no showers in the lounges because there are some available as part of the airport infrastructure.

The lounges are available to qualifying Swiss passengers, as well as those with Lufthansa (which is in the process of taking over Swiss), and other Star Alliance member carriers. Swiss is also due to open three new lounges at Zurich Airport in the near future.
