Lufthansa launches all-business class Frankfurt-Newark route

6 Nov 2007 by Mark Caswell

German carrier Lufthansa has extended its Business Jet offering, and is also launching new two-class flights from Bristol to Frankfurt.

The airline is serving the Frankfurt-New York route with a Boeing 737 configured with 44 seats – four less than all-business class airline Eos (which flies from London Stasted to New York JFK) – although Lufthansa’s seating is angled lie-flat rather than Eos’s fully-flat offering.

Flight LH484 departs Frankfurt daily (except Saturdays) at 0815, arriving in New York at 1120, with the return leg LH485 leaving Newark at 1555, and arriving back in Frankfurt at 0540 the next day.

As an incentive to try out the new service, Lufthansa is offering passengers a free one-way helicopter or limousine transfer from Newark to Manhattan, valid for travel before March 31, 2008. The limousine service is available to those travelling in classes C and D, while the helicopter transfer is valid for booking class C only.

As an added bonus, Lufthansa is also offering double loyalty miles for passengers travelling on the route before January 31, 2008. Lufthansa’s Business Jet service is also available on the Düsseldorf-Newark and Düsseldorf-Chicago routes.

In other news, Lufthansa has announced it will begin a three-times daily service from Bristol to Frankfurt next March. The carrier says it has 11,000 Miles and More loyalty scheme members living within an hour of Bristol International Airport, and will offer a two-class service, with one-way flights starting from £39.

The proposed timetable calls for departures from Bristol at 0620, 1120 and 1740, with return flights from Frankfurt at 0910, 1615 and 2130. Flight time is around 1hr 50 mins.
