Macau made easy with new Pac On Pier

1 Nov 2007 by Ciprian Hirlea

Travelling to Macau has just gotten a lot easier with the recent opening of the Pac On Pier. The facility is located right next to the Macau International Airport.

Unveiled just in time for the recent NBA China Games, this modern US$500 million pier is intended to serve both Hongkong and other regional destinations such as Shenzhen and Zhuhai.

The pier is also the home of The Venetian Macao’s new fleet of ten 411-seat catamarans (pictured). Ferrying visitors between Hongkong and Macau, these vessels also feature electronic ticketing and onboard hotel check-in.

A new operator, Dragao Giante Transportes Maritimos (DGTM), is also expected to service the same route, with gigantic 1,200-seat boats. Currently, the pier is equipped with temporary berths and has only daytime sailings. However, the remainder of the facility is scheduled to be completed in 2009.
