Heathrow Express has revealed how it will rejig its services to accommodate T5 from next March. T4 will be removed from the express loop, with trains stopping at Heathrow Central (T1, 2 and 3) before continuing directly on to the new terminal.
Services on the Heathrow Express will continue to depart London Paddington every quarter of an hour, arriving at Heathrow Central 15 minutes later. It will then stop for one minute to drop off passengers before a further seven-minute journey to T5, meaning the total journey time to the new terminal will be approximately 23 minutes.
Heathrow Express passengers looking to get to T4 will have to disembark at Heathrow Central, and connect on to a free inter-terminal service. This will effectively be the final leg of rival Heathrow Connect's service, as from next March its route will also be amended to go on to T4 after Heathrow Central. This is the opposite of the current situation, as at present Heathrow Connect passengers looking to get to T4 change at Heathrow Central for a free connection with Heathrow Express.
T5 is due to open on March 27, 2008, with 30,000 staff and 16,000 volunteers putting the facility through its paces over the next six months. For more information visit heathrowexpress.com, heathrowconnect.com. baa.com.
