Aloft announces new properties in Thailand and US

4 Jul 2007 by business traveller

Starwood's lifestyle brand Aloft now has over 50 hotel developments confirmed, with the latest projects announced for Bangkok and Las Vegas.

Designed by the same team behind Starwood's successful W Hotels brand, Aloft aims to deliver "affordable, stylish design, accessible technology and a refreshing new attitude" while still "carrying the DNA of W Hotels".

The majority of Aloft's forthcoming hotels are located in the US, although there are also properties slated for Sydney, Brussels (see online news March 14), Beijing, Montreal, Canada, and now Bangkok. Thailand's capital will gain a 308-room Aloft hotel in 2010, located on Sukhumvit Road, and including 180sqm of meeting space, a spa, restaurant and bar, fitness centre and indoor swimming pool.

Details of the Las Vegas property are a little more sketchy, although the hotel will be located on Paradise Road, a couple of blocks to the East of "The Strip", along with other hotels such as the Renaissance Las Vegas, Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, Best Western Mardi Gras and Embassy Suites.

Aloft guests can expect 2.75m ceilings, oversized windows, large bathrooms with walk-in showers, wifi internet access, flatscreen HDTV-ready TVs, and "plug and play", a one-stop connectivity solution for PDAs, mobile phones, mp3 players and laptops.

The brand aims to open an impressive 500 properties by 2012, with the first openings due next year.
