Thistle Hotels to go 100 per cent wifi

8 Mar 2007 by business traveller

Thistle Hotels has announced plans to make all of its UK properties fully wifi accessible by the end of 2007. The hotel chain is expanding its current partnership with BT Openzone to provide wireless internet access in all guest rooms, meeting facilities and public areas.

Thistle has 49 locations across the UK, including 20 London properties (two of which are branded as Guoman Hotels), and eight hotels in Scotland. Of these, 14 of the London hotels are already fully wifi-accessible along with the Thistle Edinburgh, with the rest due to follow this year. Says Stuart Leven, sales and marketing director:

"Our wireless broadband services will provide fast, easy to use access for guests using the hotel for business, leisure or simply enjoying a drink in the lounge. Now that wireless access is available throughout the hotel, meetings and events clients can stay constantly connected throughout their stay."

Thistle says the service will offer seamless wifi coverage, meaning guests will not have to log off when moving throughout the hotel – costs range from £6 for a one-hour voucher, to £10 for 24 hours, or the same cost for a one-month, 250 minute voucher.
