Easyjet adds Gatwick-Glasgow

5 Oct 2006 by business traveller

Budget airline Easyjet has just launched a new Anglo-Scottish route. From the beginning of this month it's now flying up to three times a day between Gatwick and Glasgow in competition with British Airways.

Easyjet's weekday flights depart Gatwick at 0635, 1310 and 1910 returning from Glasgow at 0830, 1505 and 2105. Flight time is 90 minutes to Glasgow and 80-85 minutes back to London.

By contrast, BA's long-established service on this route provides six flights a day on weekdays heading north between 0655 and 2120 and returning between 0615 and 1935.

As Easyjet's new service is not yet well known its fares are keen. Last Tuesday, when Business Traveller checked the cheapest rate for a day return trip for travel today (October 5), Easyjet was charging £122 compared to BA's rate of £336. The same flights booked for travel on October 12 cost £61 with Easyjet and £167 with BA.
