Sorry to hear about your camera loss and memories. Am amazed you didn’t grab the camera out of your bag before handing it over. You seem like an experienced traveller. The airlines are taking bags off folks more and more these days and loading them for free. We just have to take out what’s valuable now, can’t risk them going in the hold. We had to carry my OH laptop recently by hand. We even had a text pre flight from BA the other day at LHR offering to take our carry on off us. But as priority silver we got on early and held on to them.in reply to: Theft from Checked Baggage9 Nov 2017
As rferguson says, it’s each person to it’s own. We also nabbed ARN to SIN, but it does take painful hours of searching. You then hop around Asia using local airlines, like air Asia,,or MAS or SIA or CX depending where you land. These are EX EU J fares as known in the industry. You do have to be able to buy positioning flights as it were to any major EU departing hub. Best quoted fares were the ARN SIN one. With a layover in Doha. This too can vary, also depends on which aircraft you prefer to fly on. Lots of availability right through to next Oct 2018. These are NOT UK departure flights. They are more than double the cost departing from the UK. You can get an open jaw fare which can return to the uk directly for a further couple of hundred pounds. So you do have to chose multi city, and look for the red biz promo fares. It finishes tomorrow, so be quick. The QR website is also difficult to negotiate, it used to be much better, but the tinkering has made it much worse. You could call up and ask them to book for you too.in reply to: Good QR 2-4-1 J sale.9 Nov 2017
You won’t have the same worry next time, as the contents of the new amenity bags are ghastly. Colour and quality much worse. Three tiny products, about 20 ml each. So good luck.
Thinks, We too had our sealed booze taken off us at plane security, so it is a scam. Best not to buy if in transit ever. But duty free staff all in the know and will sell you anything, am afraid.in reply to: Bangkok Airport Scams9 Nov 2017
We use the 02072442960 no, directly to very good English speakers in Poland. Very smart, on the ball. The Doha lot, like speaking to 12 year olds, am afraid. And unfortunately their customer service centre there leaves a lot to be desired. So you are really left up to your own devices with QR, the app is really useful. Saying that, their ex eu J fares are the best around ESP to Asia.in reply to: Qatar Airways Schedule Changes22 Sep 2017
Same happening over at Ryan Air. as BT discussed few weeks ago. They claim it’s not deliberate, and blame their computer, but l think BA have now cottoned on to this system to increase revenue. Very lucrative, and yet another nasty “enhancement”in reply to: Automatic seat allocation – what are BA doing?5 Aug 2017
Really???? Just make them pay for two seats. Have you ever sat next to one of these human beings? Sorry to be so un PC, no study needed at all. Hawaiian airlines are making some pax do just that! Common sense must prevail at some point in this debate…l am a health professional so am allowed to discuss this!in reply to: US Court orders seat size review4 Aug 2017
Years ago l was stopped on route from Weybridge to LHR where l worked for years. They wanted to know if there was a direct public transport route from Weybridge to LHR, would l use it? Replied, of course and have waited now over 20 years for that to materialise. For a couple of years we had that bus route co funded by Abelio and Surrey County Council direct to T5, but since ceased. You have to now change bus at Staines station. 1 hr plus journey, but it worked. Plus a round the houses bus from Walton to T2/3. Fine for one pax, but if 1 plus, take an über. But then we are back to cars on roads again.
My thoughts are they won’t bother with public transport improvements from Surrey, as people will just pay up for the convenience of car usage.10 Jul 2017
QR will probably have you email a copy of the boarding pass at least 5 times. It is like dealing with 12 yr Olds in their c/s dept. we got to the point that we have to double check with QR at the departure gate to ensure the correct FFP is still there. Unreal. We have definitely found it’s improved since we do it ourselves on MMB on QR website, or the Finnair one.in reply to: Posting FFP miles in the wrong FF program22 Oct 2015
We find that logging into QR MMB, and physically changing your FFP to the one you want the credits for works really well. You will then get an email from QR confirming your FFP change. We just do ourselves in the lounge, often just before departure. The airlines can definitely get mixed up with requests. RJ are awful too. Actually changed it on a plane once from BA to our AA one, that was a panic, but it worked out ok.in reply to: Posting FFP miles in the wrong FF program22 Oct 2015
Just curious how you manage to get this status without biz flying. My sis in Dub is trying to get avios etc but it’s difficult over there as amex not accepted in all areas. Is it you just fly ex EU biz, and accumulate TPs and avios that way. We do this also, in flats like the other poster are doing similar. DUb to NYC next July in J class for under £600 pp. Incredible. Obviously have to position with avios to Dub first.
Agree it’s totally unfair that we can’t get good prices directly from LHR.
Just love reading these threads, and the advice given…in reply to: Sick of bargain flights for ALL but UK!22 Oct 2015
