Will mourn the passing of the Excelsior. It was my favourite hotel in times past and I have spent many a happy hour in the Club Lounge watching the harbour activity. Hope they keep the Dickens bar!

The cost isssue is just one of the several reasons (also repeated aircraft/schedule changes) I am doing my next LHR-BKK trip with EVA.
I suppose sombody has to pay for these new Q-suites, and I do wonder if much of this cost issue is down to the poor value of the Pound?

There is no valid reason for this other than to screw even more money out of the travelling public!

    Hi Tom
Just to let you know that Qatar Airways have their own dedicated lost property dept at LHR-T4. Phone number is +44 (0) 208 976 5628. Very helpful they are too!

    Hi Stephen
If you are in the UK you might try 0330 024 0127 – office bours UK time. The queue wait can be long but you do get to talk to somebody – eventually.

Am I surprised – not really!
Have flown in J for many years LHR-BKK and used Q-miles for leisure simply by ringing the ‘office’.
Now that everything has to be done ONLY on-line this is almost impossible and trying to get two seats using two different accounts – forget it!
It’s all changed from their being very helpful to downright difficult.
Have started moving my Q-miles out and booked my next trip with EVA!
    Their loss.

This reminds me of a topic last year on wiping the tray table down. Everybody should make a habit carrying a wet-wipe to clean the ‘furniture’ before sitting down. Any doubt about the seat cover itself then use the blanket to sit on and ask for a second. Remember it’s what you can’t see that will often be a problem.

    Getting more common this.
My wife’s instant reply to this is ‘I am not a Guy’.
Equally, I dislike a salesperson asking me for my first name. My reply is Mister, when then asked for my initials I say M-R. That fools ’em!

I do suspect that this is because they ‘disappear’- into passengers pockets!!

I seem to be at odds with the general feeling on this one!

Just travelled on a new A350-1000 with the new Q-suite DOH-LHR – don’t care for it.

OK the privacy is great but very claustrophobic as a Centre pair. TV screen is too big and dominating. The seat section lengths are wrong for a small frame and no calf support on the seat. Staff spent ages in the cabin trying to get the doors to close on several seats – took three of them to lower the centre divider on ours (with much brute force!)

May be OK as a window single or a ‘Club 4’.

    Hi Polly
That thought had occured to me! It’s quite expensive to do that. I did wonder later if it would be possible to use two laptops simultaneously to achieve the same thing at no cost. When I get back from BKK (flying out Monday 5th) I may give this a try. Just might crash the whole system!!

Have to agree with ‘Inquisitive’ that the Qatar Lounge in T4 LHR must also take some beating.
Spacious, great Deli,Separate Restaurant, Excellent wine list, Showers etc. AND directly opposite the departure gate.
My main dislike is the Thai Lounge at BKK for apposite reasons. Its cramped, the food is mediocre and the lounge is poorly located.
Have used the Qatar First Class ‘Al Safwan’ lounge in Doha on two occasions. Vast place, looks wonderful but like a morgue, far more staff than passengers.

    All this is good advice.
I routinely carry antiseptic hard surface wipes onto the aircraft for a discrete clean of the tray table, seat controls, armrests and IFE control.
Then in the hotel room a good wipe of the door handles, TV remote and telephones (particularly the one in the bathroom!).

Made the effort to use the Qatar system 10 days ago (DOH-LHR).
Shame the Cabin crew seemed to know nothing about it!!
