T4F an odd feeling of elation for something that should never have happened… VTE is like that 🙂

However you are still to convince me that its not just another “boys toys” purchase

The fact is, when the batteries were working you knew where your bag was if I may be so bold “so what” they were not whisked to you on a private jet with with a gift of champagne and “celebrations” to toast the amazing device ..

You and I probably would have had the same experience if I had placed my bag in the hold and a) I dont have the device and b) never will…

Glad you are reunited with your belongings may you have many happy days together 🙂

Tom, I highly recommend Japanese Whiskey if you like your Single Malts …. Hibiki 12 is one of my personal favourites (within budget) and 21 if someone is mad enough to have spent the ridiculous amount to obtain it ….

However there are a plethora of Japanese Whiskeys and of course Sake (just dont get me started on the Sake) just ask Martyn!!!

Hope you make it to Tokyo soon, an amazing city full of amazing people with a culture and customs that fascinate me

Last week I was in the ANA First Class Lounge at Handeda Airport in Tokyo and the place was amazing! Almost A la Carte breakfast and at 6.50am they were running around offering people not only Champagne but Habiki Japanese Whiskey which if you are familiar with your whiskey’s is amazing … however not at 6.50am albeit amazed how many people were having a dram!!

I am back there in a couple of weeks for an afternoon flight back to SIN I will check it out again for sure

I have never been there, but judging my another thread on here make sure your connection time in AMS is sufficient or you may never see your luggage again!!

Don’t forget your boxing gloves JNPU!

Related to the OP, I had this happen to me on a VS flight back from SFO many years ago which simply led me to never fly the airline again! I was in Upper Class upstairs on a 747 and the whole decks IFE went down ..

I was sitting next to a guy who was at pains to tell me how he had been upgraded at the gate which I had no issue about and he was well made up and enjoying himself

When the Purser cam around to tell us the IFE was not going to be working for the whole flight we were all angry but he said that he was authorised to give us all miles or points or a voucher for duty free which I accepted. He went away and came back with a £45 voucher for me and for the guy next to me? I asked whether the fact I had paid 3 times the amount for my ticket that it should justify a larger recompense than my friend sitting next to me as he had only paid for a PE seat…

The Purser didnt see it that way and referred it upstairs so to speak and I got one of the “Dear John” letter apologising for the inconvenience blah blah and I wrote back and I wanted them to acknowledge that if you are giving people something for their inconvenience it needs to be based on the cost that the person paid for the seat against someone who luckily had been upgraded to the seat?

They disagreed and I told them as a user chooser and the budget holder for a team of 12 regularly flying the LHR-SFO route that I would never use their airline again and strike them also from the PL which didnt faze them and as such have never set foot again… So it does happen across the board..

SQ on the other hand were quick to notify me when I had paid for a Preferred Seat which had IFE issues and they promptly upgraded me .. Thank you SQ

A question if I may, does this extend also to you getting your wives and loved ones into the lounges when you travel or this is unaffected?

I sort of buy the need for countering the chaos at check in but would be well ticked off if I couldn’t bring a colleague or god forbid hubby into the lounge when we travel together??

You guys are clearly travelling with the wrong airlines …. In all my years its happened to me twice, once with the dreaded KLM flying to SFO through Gatwick I arrived safely in SFO my luggage didnt that was when they were flying the MD10’s ( I believe that was the plane with 3 engines right?)

The second was with my favourite airline MH!!!! Couldnt get my luggage to SIN from KUL but it was the weekend after MH370 and I forgave them for that..

Again pack light (you know it makes sense!)

But the point is it a waste of money, my suggestion it is… It didnt prevent your luggage going missing T4F and certainly hasnt sped the process of getting your baggage delivered so pray tell what is the point??

I know its boys with their toys and I get that as I am as big a boy as the rest but really????

Of course you can always pack light and put your luggage above you in a bin like I do?? Saves all this mumbo jumbo about 2-3G and towers and wheres my luggage??

I never put luggage in the hold unless I am going away with hubby (who has more clothes than I) it just doesn’t make sense and it just saves loads of time

Travelling4Fun if you are there for 3 months I get it but for the small hops that I know you do Martyn pack it, stack it and take it with you ….

Have been in Laos many times there is a great coffee shop restaurant (name escapes me) where I managed to crawl home from on a few occasions! Don’t stay out too late tho its almost impossible to get a taxi or transport after about 11 and we had to call our customer to come and pick us up!!

Love how you step back into the 1970’s when you land and the wonderful process of stamping your passport ..

    Enjoy VTE
