Thank you Tom ‘& others’ .. I’m making use of Easyjet’s new service between Bordeaux and Tel Aviv .. a very useful service for me, as I visit SW France frequently.

Thanks Cwoodward .. a pool and steam room are important facilities for me, so I have opted for the Four Seasons, although I know they can sometimes be ‘stuffy’ hotels. I’ll check out the Murray .. cheers

El Al is usually twice daily from Heathrow .. Fridays & Saturdays vary during the year according to time of Shabbat.

I’m not doing that much travelling any more, but a social meet in Bangkok could be of interest. Ideally the 11th, 12th, 13th or 14th December, as from the 15th onwards, I would think fares are going to be much more expensive.

Whilst this is a Amex Platinum offer, I had similar promotions from BA AMEX. However at that time, Amex were clever enough not to market other family members who already shop from Selfridges. In other words, even if you hold the same credit card, you may not receive the same ‘offers’. It appears they can craft the offers around your existing spending patterns.

VS’s 789 Upper is very good in terms of seat / bed. I’m 6’2″ tall and find the bed great for sleeping, although the window seats facing inwards is a little odd.

I believe El Al are part of One World, so not sure if that’s what you meant by ‘non aligned’.

BA’s 8am departure from LHR to TLV is well timed, but I’d avoid any late night departures from LHR to TLV, as that ‘red eye’service allows for very little sleep.

Likewise with Swiss, the 3am arrival into TLV and 5am return departure are not ideal times.

    Safe travelling ..

Thanks garrison76, your links worked ..

I was surprised to see that there was no seating plan on this link

On VS’s A340 600, in Upper Class, 9 to 15 A or 4 to 7 K are my preferrred seats. As the configuration is 1/1/1, I would prefer the seats that are not facing other seats, and away from the front service area / toilet and the rear bar.

Thank you for all the advice. I’ve spoken with the Executive Club twice, and today they seemed very helpful. They received a copy of the death certificate, and a letter from my Mum, 10 days ago. They’ve indicated it will take another week to transfer the miles. Here’s hoping.

Martyn,’thank you for your kind wishes’.

@martynsinclair .. thank you for your encouragement & praise for BT.

My main interest is the FORUM on BT. Using a tablet, in my case the iPad Mini, I find it most convenient to access the BT webpage via Safari, and without scrolling down, I appreciate seeing the FORUM topics immediately.

I am not a big APP user, unless for newspapers and magazines.

    Cheers

I’ve not been such an active contributor to BT over the years, but I have always enjoyed looking at Forum topics on a regular basis.
Since the new layout, I have hardly viewed the forum.
It was always easier to view current topics on the front page of BT. To have to access menus has ‘put me off’.
Looking at the Forum, it looks far more complicated and less inviting.
    Just my observations ..

Visiting a Relais & Chateaux hotel, I was expecting a high standard.
How wrong I was .. Hotel De La Plage, in Brittany just by a village called Sainte Anne la Palud.

Over priced, disappointing rooms, over rated restaurant & this hotel is no more than a 2 or 3 star at best.

    Beware !

787 .. I can’t comment on the seating. As an aircraft, the 787 is noticeably better on ventilation, less dry air and a bodily ‘feel good’ factor after disembarking.
