    Disport? Do you mean comport?

I would offer up LPL as the nastiest airport in the UK.

They opened a Harrods store at MAN many years ago, which did not last long, but it will be a great success in LGW South as they will get their ranging right.

Savile Row, and Burlington and Piccadilly Arcades remain the unique places they have always been.

    @conshaldow….

Yes…EDI is definitely John Cleese or at least thinks it is…even the FR flights are relatively snooty compared to the PIK ones….

GLA…..aspires to be Ronnie Barker, alas on many occasions it feels like being in a fake Burberry shop with associated behaviours…

And poor old PIK ……no coincidence that it has a bar dedicated to Elvis…and before anyone say’s anything …Elvis is great…and he serves up a mean bag of chips…lol

    @ eselle,,,,LPL the nastiest…Por Quoi ? : )

Apparently, it’s the reason Easyjet developed its short turnaround model.

At the risk of bringing this back on theme Harrods have had a shop airside in Gatwick’s North Terminal for years – they presumably therefore know the market well. In any case last time I saw it I recall it was mainly souvenirs etc, I didn’t see any Persian carpets or Steinways but then I didn’t see any in LHR either – looks very similar!

I think the OP should trust Harrods to know their clientele. In the past when I was involved with UK charity donation raising, it was always easier to raise funds in down market areas than in upscale areas — the money flowed with apparent ease, and I am sure that those last minute impulse buys will account for a lot of the till takings.
And on a separate note when I was importing goods, chiefly flowers from India and points east a small gift such as toy bear or box of cookies or mints was always welcomed, but was doubly so if it bore the Harrods logo and came in their famous green bag! Needless to say I sourced them at LHR. Here in Florida the Harrods name carries a tremendous cachet with the US public, well above the Neiman Marcus brand which occupies a similar position in its home market. So well done to the Qatari owners.

Good timing for the Tartan Army flying back up from Gat-er-wick tomorrow, they can get souvenir green models of Wembley without risking having their tack seized at security.

That’s Mrs P joining the growing ranks amongst the forum party faithful, I was unconvinced at first on the A380 thread. There was a murder case on Crimewatch Revisited recently where the police consulted a national specialist in writing style, the defendant had sent text messages purporting to be from the victim but they were compared with his own and deduced to be his beyond the required reasonable doubt. Get the professor down to Harrods!

    Hi canuckland

    I imagine you mean “pourquoi”……

LPL has the most aggressive security staff, and once you get through, it is virtually zero on natural light, and the gates are mainly metal stairs to the apron.

Waiting to board, penned in metal tubes, means you either freeze in winter, or bake in summer. Just horrible.

SergeantMajor – sounds like the sort of drivel VK used to post.

The chances of those passengers flying from LGW South incurring an emergency are what, 1 in a million or less, even on the holiday routes. In which case your additional safety briefing can be filed in the ‘interesting but irrelevant’ folder.

There is more chance of you breaking a leg tripping over a stray bucket and spade.

VK’s last post was on the 19th of June and SergeantMajor’s first post was the 17th of July.

Maybe BT can track the IP addresses used and see if they are the same?

Also interesting to note that SM has the same in depth detailed knowledge of BA bookings as VK, confirming my view that he is actually one of those specialist BA corporate travel agents.

If you can recognise individual or an individual’s writing traits, it’s quite easy to identify posters from one forum to another. Even with different “handles”. There will always be something, e.g. A word used frequently, that will give the game away!

But we are only speculating here. 😉 🙂

Anyway I’m sure those behind the scenes here will jump in if there is an issue.

My last purchase of a Harrods teddy bear was gurglingly, happily, gummy smiles, slaveringly received – well “grabbed” if the truth be known! :-))) What will I get the DH for his next birthday! 😉 🙂

Gave the game away with his involuntary BA Tourettes on the below thread.
