Ever since the days of Laker Skytrain we have seen so many transatlantic newcomers.

    Almost all have failed.

Today comes news of yet another airline start up to fly from London as reported by Cityam.com

The new airline, which might be called Global, is in discussions with Airbus over acquiring used A380s.

It promises higher standards than those offered by current operators.

London set to be home of new transatlantic carrier Global as soon as next year

Seems to have a list of quite prominent backers. Interesting and expensive experiment, and an uphill struggle if they are focusing on premium traffic to be operating out of LGW.

On the basis that they already have 446k devoted followers on Instagram, well, I don’t doubt that they will be a roaring success. No doubt at all….

Today Mark has posted the news.

France’s @airplusnews [FR] reports that the first A380 will be from Hi-Fly Malta (previously an SIA operated aircraft) registered as MSN006.

Readers may recall that Norwegian leased a Hi-Fly A380 (also an ex-SIA aircraft) for its LGW-JFK service some years ago. It was during the time when some of its B787s were grounded owing to technical issues.
