I recall seeing the movie “Alive!” (true story about a plane crash in the Andes whose surviving passengers were stranded and resorted to cannibalism to survive) in the lounge in CAI preflight.

Worst ever was Thanksgving2011 flight on AA, Captain America, Green Lantern and rise of the planet of the apes (complete with draco malfoy proving paper bags are hard to act out of). Three of the worst wastes of celluloid I have ever seen. The best acting coming from the CGI monkeys.

No! Captain America AND Green Lantern?! Now that is unfortunate. Keep in mind that you don’t get it confused with The Green Hornet. Had that in my rental flat and that one is actually quite good. Although I heard that the CGI in Planet of the Apes was pretty good. I guess this proves my point that entertainment screens on board don’t do special effects films any justice.

@BB: No I’m not related not related to “lloydah”, what makes you think that?

Is Towie an acronym for a TV show? I was thinking Faulty Towers or Monty Python. Good old comedy classics.

There are some good movies on this Easter, J.Edgar is particularly recommended, though avoid “Tower Heist” which I painfully endured on my most recent flight. The Descendants was a bit “meh!”:

Slightly off-thread but the worst in-flight film I ever saw was back in the days of a big screen at the front of the cabin. And on it was shown a soft porn movie (and in some places not so soft!) One could not escape it and it was hugely embarrassing.

Regular flyers in Asia in the 1990s will not be entirely surprised to hear that this was an intermediate-distance JAL flight (Hong Kong to Tokyo I recall) – an airline that at the time brought new meaning to the word “horrible”. The only consolation was that the air was so thick with smoke from all the Japanese sarari-men puffing away continually that the worst excesses of the film were barely visible through the haze.

Anyone remember those awful early AVID pneumatic headsets with sound piped in tubes from the armrest? No noisecancelling, things did not fit in your ears and you could hardly hear. Mind you it matched the bouncy Super 8 film which could not be seen if anyone opened the blinds. So grateful we only got one movie to LAX. I remember watching FM on TWA and had to get the VHS out later to hear what is what all about. (Shouldn’t have bothered…) TWA headsets were nasty brown, PAn Am were blue and I think BA were dark blue.

Ah, yes. “The haunting sounds of Enya” stand out. Delta, I think that was.

Some nice movies on BA this month:
