    my ex-mother-in-law used to refer to wine as ‘going for a cup of tea’ (to fool her kids), so there is the answer (drink wine or cognac as tea and all would be tip-top)

    @cwoodward

    Some airlines/aircraft fit espresso machines some don’t.
    QR had/have them on most of their widebodies if I remember well.

    Dead right, Martyn.

    Now I’ll tell you a real, true, scandal – a few months ago, my wife brought me a cup of tea in the living room WITH A TEABAG STILL IN THE CUP.

    Well you are the lucky one. The last time I told my wife I fancied a cup of tea she said you know where the kettle is…….

    a cup of tea with the tea bag still in is better than no tea at all …….

    I absolutely agree – I only needed to remove the teabag, in my own tea – a first world problem!

    This discussion is taking a disturbing turn with all this chat about tea bags and cups —- Very disturbing indeed !!

    Cups and saucers equals the ritual warmed pot with ideally tea leaves
    Teabags equals mugs akin to a builders strong brew
    Never the twain should meet

    horses for courses ….. different tea for different occasions (morning, builders in a mug / afternoon – dainty in a pot with cucumber sandwiches)

    on a plane in biz class, when asked for (did they refuse champagne on request)

    But never tea bags ! Always builders for me with (after 11 am) preferably a meat pie – ideally Australian. I find that cucumber is prone to inducing flatulence.

    CWoodward, I guess your favourite inflight movie would be “Gone with the Wind”?
