I guess the main issue with tea on board is that the water used to make it is likely to be merely hot, rather than boiling. Hence my choice is white wine. If I can get it!

I have never flown with Virgin myself but quite honestly I can not believe that any airline would not offer a cup of tea, even in economy, midway through a 9 hour flight as long as it was not clashing with a meal service let alone in Business. Long haul business travel should have an excellent service throughout with refreshments available the whole flight. I have to say this just reinforces my decision to use other carriers for my business class travel and to discount the idea of even considering Virgin

I note BugAdvisor saying the lounges are excellent and was reminded me that one could say the same about the Virgin Bank lounges (pre covid) but the service in the Bank was and is awful – the only reason I have an account is for the debit card that can be used abroad without extra charges

Ditto —- Coffee with breakfast , white wine with dinner and lunch and snack service and watching the film and socialising with other passengers but never breakfast .. After all I’m not uncivilized .

Can’t imagine why you would choose Virgin over Emirates.

Sorry Frances… I’d choose any airline for travel over the mid-east ones… the possibility of financially benefitting countries with those human rights attitudes is the reason and I’m only sorry that my “boycott’ makes so little difference

I think you’re missing the point. To spend so much time and effort complaining about this tea ‘problem’…..it takes away the REAL issues people have about airlines.

If you’re that kind of person who wants to look down on people…yes, send me to Ryan Air.

Unfortunately, smacks of cost cutting – took many flights with BA over the summer who were only too keen to make you a cup of Tea or a G&T to your seat if requested at the galley (even on SH). I hope VS would chuck you a can of beer or mini bottle of wine, as compliant with limited contact, but interesting that’s not an option.

I’m not surprised with this response when you asked for a cup of tea on Virgin. I have always found the majority of VS crews to be extremely lazy and rude and find passengers an inconvience. Covid is just an extra reason for them to do even less. None of them would last 5 minutes if they had to do the same amount of work as Asian or Middle Eastern crews manage to do on a flight.

Congy, why so aggressive please ?
I would make the point that many (most ?) of us here are of British origin or native or advanced English speakers and it is a fact that most of us drink tea. It seems that you don’t have any understanding of this and as such are way out of step and with your aggressive attitude towards those of us that consider the lack of tea to be of concern and are frankly being rather objectionable.

Having a tea/coffee trolley come around only once would likely be a VS operational decision on a day flight India – UK, so I suspect the crew member was only following laid down protocol. While we can go to the galley & help ourselves to snacks, juices & soft drinks, I don’t think that’s applicable for hot beverages.

Saying that, unless the flight is packed and the crew have their hands full, it really shouldn’t be too much to ask for and receive a second cup. Maybe the crew members were just rushed off their feet? It can happen on a full load Westward bound day flight.

Morning Congy, I’m assuming you don’t live in the UK ….. If ever a countries heart and soul can be defined by a beveridge it the UK & its obsession with a cuppa
Many would say you can define a man by the way they prepare their tea , never trust someone who pours milk in first 🙂
