    Google are paying for free in-flight internet access on all VX flights this Christmas. More details here:

    Internet remains free for those in the excellent VX First Class.

    This seems to be increasingly offered as a differentiator in the US domestic market, where longer flight durations mean there is more demand for connectivity; travelling over land also allows terrestrial networks to be used, which greatly reduces the cost of providing the service.

    American Airlines has also started rolling out their own super-fast WiFi system, BA now has OnAir across the Atlantic and Lufthansa will shortly begin once again enabling the Connexion by Boeing system (which was fitted and used on a number of their longhaul aircraft a few years ago) rebranded by Panasonic, who were the original manufacturers.
