The worst aspect of our flight was that we checked in at the United counter in SFO terminal 3 and the flight left from terminal 1. We had a choice of running through the entire airport or taking the shuttle bus from gate 71A to the 30’s gates. While in theory a good idea, the actual implementation is a joke.

There are several small buses that run slowly between the terminals. When we finally arrived at terminal 1 we were kept on the buses for another 5 minutes while 3 buses parked in front of us were loading for the return trip. There were several of us with very tight connections and the bus attendant told us that we had to wait on the bus until we pulled directly in front of the door. There was one passenger on the bus who actually broke down in tears that she was missing her flight because of this delay. Too bad, nothing they could do, just had to wait.

The seats on this CRJ200 are in my opinion the most uncomfortable seats on any “modern” airplane. They are small, hard and not forgiving. In addition the ventilation system is entirely inadequate. It took an hour into our hour and 10 minute flight to finally cool the cabin down. The attendant was aware of the the discomfort and reported that the pilot had the system set on max.

The Skywest crews are know for their friendliness and efficiency. Most of their flights are just short hops and they know how to provide just the right amount of attention to make things go smoothly. It is not their fault that they are stuck with this equipment.
