United Airlines has released a new documentary from the producers of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, as part of the airline’s continued tie-up with Welsh football club Wrexham AFC.

ReUnited tells “the heartwarming story of five Wrexham fans from Patagonia, southern Argentina, home to the largest population of Welsh people living outside of Wales, as they make the journey of a lifetime to Wrexham and the home of Wrexham AFC, The Racecourse Ground”.

The half hour video can be seen at https://www.united.com/reunited

This follows United becoming the front-of-shirt sponsor for Wrexham AFC’s men’s and women’s teams in June 2023, and the launch of Wrexham-inspired amenity kits and pyjamas earlier this month.

Has your team partnered with an airline or hotel group? What’s the most interesting tie-up you can remember?

Mark: Manchester United were sponsored by Aeroflot for a number of years, but that’s gone down the drain now, for obvious reasons.

The top ten tie ups, internationally, can be found at https://khelnow.com/football/2024-02-world-football-biggest-airline-sponsorship-deals-football. Emirates are certainly polygamous…

Emirates of course used to sponsor Chelsea before swapping teams and going on to sponsor both Arsenal and the naming rights to their stadium.

I think FlyBe use to sponsor Southampton and possibly others.

I certainly wouldn’t want to suggest 2 of the top 3 sponsorships in Tom’s article are ‘convenient’ in the least…

Palace fan here. We were sponsored by Virgin back in the early 1990s – the year we got to the Cup FInal against Man U.

30,000 footie fans at Wembley, all wearing shirts with ‘virgin’ on the front. Insert your own jokes here.
